Mouser Electronics, Inc. now offers the new ESP32-C61 Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5 (LE) SoC from Espressif Systems. The ESP32-C61 SoC is designed for IoT, smart home, industrial, robotics, sensor and medical device applications.
The SoC features optimised peripherals and improved connectivity, powered by a 32-bit RISC-V processor running at up to 160MHz, including external PSRAM support. This enables developers to build feature-rich applications, allowing for larger data buffers, additional functionality, and future upgrades with less time spent on memory optimisation. The SoC supports a 20MHz bandwidth for 802.11ax mode and a 20MHz/40MHz bandwidth for 802.11b/g/n mode, featuring characteristics, such as OFDMA and MU-MIMO for reliable and low-latency connections, as well asl target wake time (TWT) for ultra-low power applications. Also, the chip includes a robust set of peripherals, including SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, ADC, GDMA, ETM, and an analogue comparator. The BLE radio enables long-range operation via advertisement extension and a coded PHY, while supporting a high-throughput PHY of 2Mbps. The SoC also supports the BLE Mesh 1.1 protocol, ESP-IDF, and the ESP-Matter SDK, or can operate as a wireless co-processor through ESP-AT or ESP-Hosted, facilitating seamless integration into various system architectures.
The ESP32-C61 features secure boot, flash, and PSRAM encryption with cryptographic accelerators and has an ECDSA-based digital signature peripheral (DSP) in hardware, thus safeguarding private keys from software access. The addition of a trusted execution environment (TEE), utilising access permission management (APM), a hardware block, and physical memory protection (PMP), provides mechanisms for software isolation.
